Growth Mindset Project

Two Paragraphs:
Growth mindset is when a person has a different way of seeing things when they fail. Instead of thinking of how they failed, they take the chance to fix it up and make it better than it was before. There are a lot of details that contribute to having a growth mindset, however there are some difficulties with people who have a fixed mindset instead. This idea of growth and fixed mindset came from Carol Dweck, a professor of psychology at Stanford. Dweck has been through more than three decades of research of why some people achieve their potential while others may not (3). Carol Dweck has made many discoveries that has contributed of showing what she meant with having a growth and fixed mindset. For example, according to the Effort Effect, Dweck thought, “people who blame on their failures to lack of ability would become discouraged while others who just thought they didn’t try their best would put more effort” that showed a result on what she had gotten after testing it out (6). As you can see, her idea of growth and fixed mindset became well known. Therefore, all these details of growth mindset and even fixed mindset has contributed to a more successful and complex mind.
As we gave our information about growth mindset, it connects to what we have as our artifact so it can show an example. The way we are trying to show others how a growth and fixed mindset work is by having a basketball hoop and two different mindsets. When you look at it, you might not see any relation to what we are trying to prove but as we tell you more then you might understand. The basketball hoop connects to our icon, imperative, and growth mindset because it is going to give you two different examples of how people may react when they go to a farther distance and fail to make it inside the hoop. If they fail and react by giving up it shows that the person has a fixed mindset. However, the other example would be if they failed but instead of giving up, the person would continue trying. That being the case, our artifact is important because hopefully by giving examples you can see the difference of how each mindset may think in the case of failure.
Reflection: During this project, I learned many new things. I learned what growth and fixed mindset is. Growth mindset is when a person is determined to do something even if they fail. When someone has a fixed mindset they don’t want to look bad in front of someone so instead of trying they try to act smart. Fixed mindset makes them get upset whenever they fail in something while a person with a growth mindset keeps trying till that person reaches their goal. I also learned that next time I should pair up with someone who isn’t going to be absent on presentation day. Next time I want to be more prepared on what to say and what to do. Oh yeah I also learned how to use gate icons and imperatives within paragraphs.

" The Crucible" End of the play f.i.n.d Reflection

F ( Fact ) : One fact about " The Crucible" is that this play was written to alert American people about the government's falsity and publicity that were headed their way.
I ( Internal Connection ) : While reading about " The Crucible," I felt sad because a lot of people died due to negligence. I felt especially sad when Giles Corey gave his own life so that his sons can have his land.
N ( New Idea ) : A new idea I learned while reading" The Crucible " is that many people still do false confessions today. A false confession is when you falsely confess for something you didn't do and sometimes get paid for or are pressured to confess.
D ( Decision ) : A ( personal, academic, or mental ) decision that I will make based on my reading and understanding of " The Crucible " is to never make a false confession. Even if I'm pressured or paid for I will never make a false confession.

October Reflection

I am doing better in reaching my academic goals this year because I plan ahead of time and I am always ready to work on whatever I am assigned to do. This year I am actually reading more books, so far I've read ten. My goal is to read at least fifty books by the end of the year. The actual thing I have to work on is participating in class because this is my main weakness. I feel challenged or pressured when it comes to participating because I get really shy when it comes to this. My strength is writing essays because I enjoy doing this and find it easy. This month, I want to work on participating because without participating it lowers my grade and also because then I won't be nervous when I have to present a project in front of the class.
Freedom + Conflict Quickwrite
What are the positive and negative impacts and contributions of both freedom and conflict. In other words, what are the costs and benefits of freedom? What are the costs and benefits of conflict? How do conflict and freedom interrelate? Are they true opposites? Is there a relationship between the two? Explain using your own opinion.
In my opinion, everything has a price. Freedom is the right to do anything you want at your own will without causing harm to others. But there also have to be rules because if we were totally free our world would be chaotic. Some people don't understand that having freedom doesn't mean you can go out and shoot someone and use freedom as an excuse. Freedom is a nice thing to have in your life because you don't have to be bossed around 24/7 but there is always someone in life that is going to ruin those nice things. Both freedom and conflict can create both good and bad influences in our community. Freedom is good and there was a conflict to reach this privilege. Freedom can be taken away by another conflict for those who don't want others to be free. These two paradoxes can create a huge conflict in our everyday lives.

American Dream
What does it mean to be American? What is the American dream?
The denotative meaning of American is to be native or citizen of the United States. I think to be American means that you live here and that you get more opportunities to succeed in life. The American dream is that everyone should have the opportunity to achieve success. This is really close to the meaning of what I though it meant to be American.
